The Assessor’s primary duty and responsibility is to assess all real property within their jurisdiction except that which is otherwise provided by law. This would include residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural classes of property. The assessor determines a full or partial value of new construction, or improvements depending upon the state of completion.

The Auditor acts as a secretary to the Board of Supervisors, preparing board agendas and minutes. The Auditor's office also maintains all official records and actions of the board. Publishing required legal notices, monitoring real estate ownership and tax records, processing alcohol and tobacco permits, conducting and administrating elections, among many other important roles.

The Crawford County Engineer is responsible for the supervision of construction and maintenance of the secondary road system of Crawford County. There are approximately 1200 miles of road and 280 bridges located throughout the system.

The Recorder is the historian for all real estate transactions and documents. Other records such as military discharges, certified birth, death, and marriage records, applications for marriage licenses and passports can also be found at the Recorder's Office. The Recorder's Office assists the Iowa DNR as well.
